German social democrat Bernd Lange was elected by acclamation to the head of the European Parliament’s Conference of Committee Chairs (CCC) on the afternoon of Tuesday, 15 February.

He thus succeeds Italian Antonio Tajani (EPP). “I am delighted about this new assignment. There is a lot to do to make the work of our Parliament more effective and to make our assembly a more influential player. Let’s get to work !” the German MEP declared on his Twitter account. It is true that, on several occasions and on several legislative dossiers, the CCC had not been able to take a decision on the sharing of competences among parliamentary committees, obliging the Conference of Presidents of the European Parliament’s political groups to come to a decision itself.
